We are a Miniature American Shepherd breeder located in Irishtown, New Brunswick. We raise quality working Miniature American Shepherd puppies that perform properly while conforming to the breed standard. At Riverside, we strive to produce puppies with sound structure, good temperaments, and correct Miniature American Shepherd type. This ensures our dogs can perform their jobs accurately.

We proudly hold memberships in good standing with the American Kennel Club, Canadian Kennel Club, and the Agility Association of Canada. Annette, the owner of Riverside, also serves as a certified Canine Evaluator with the Canadian Kennel Club.

Puppy Rearing and Matching Process

We handle our Miniature American Shepherd puppies daily on an individual basis. This allows us to understand their personalities and confidently place them in the most suitable families. Our program creates the best possible match between puppies and owners. In addition, Riverside puppies grow up well-socialized within our home and family. They also complete a temperament test before placement. Each one receives de-worming and goes home with both a health and temperament guarantee.

Health Testing and Life on the Property

Before breeding, our adult Miniature American Shepherds complete hip testing through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and undergo eye exams to screen for genetic abnormalities. They enjoy life on our beautifully treed three-acre property—running, hiking, and training in agility, obedience, and rally.

We register all our dogs as purebred Miniature American Shepherds with the American Kennel Club. As of July first, they are also officially registered with the Canadian Kennel Club.

Miniature American Shepherds typically range from 14 to 18 inches in height and weigh between 17 and 35 pounds, depending on body type and activity level. Our dogs thrive in a full day’s work and love competing in agility, conformation, herding, flyball, rally, obedience, and therapy. They also make exceptional companions—loyal shadows and best friends. Talk about versatile!
